MDZS Chinese Diaspora Event
In the last year, between the specific fandom issues of racism and cultural appropriation, and the broader issues of Anti-Chinese sentiment, we wanted to put together a collection of creative works from the Chinese diaspora.
Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) heritage month is May in the United States, and we decided to celebrate by creating an event for Chinese diaspora, from Chinese diaspora. If this applies to you, you are welcome to participate!
About the Event
Introduction
In the last year, between the specific fandom issues of racism and cultural appropriation, and the broader issues of Anti-Chinese sentiment, we wanted to put together a collection of creative works from the Chinese diaspora.
Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) heritage month is May in the United States, and we decided to celebrate by creating an event for Chinese diaspora, from Chinese diaspora. If this applies to you, you are welcome to participate!
How It Works
Content creators of any kind (artists, writers, podficcers, video editors, and meta linguists) are welcome to join. If you have multiple skillsets (or multiple projects), you are welcome to submit more than one creative work!
Fic: Minimum of 300 words
Art: Sketches and other artwork should feel "finished" to you
Other mediums (fanvids, gifsets, photos of something you made) would also be very welcome.
Once you know roughly when your creative work will be ready, contact Frost to arrange a date—this way, your creative endeavors can be promo-ed with the care and attention it deserves!
Content Guidelines
There is no content restriction, though fics touching on the diaspora experience are highly encouraged.
Rules
1. As creative works may deal with sensitive issues, they must be tagged appropriately. Mods reserve the right to weigh in on tags before accepting works to the AO3 collection.
2. Mods reserve the right to not include works if they promote or incite hate, including ones that mods believe do any of the following:
• instruct, provoke, or attempt to justify that the audience join a real-life hate group.
• clearly and actionably instruct, provoke, or attempt to justify that the audience harm or threaten to harm a living person or persons sharing a similar intrinsic attribute.
• clearly and actionably instruct the audience to violate a human right of a living person or a group of persons sharing a similar intrinsic attribute.
• have content outside the in-story narrative that expresses a clear and actionable plan to cause grievous harm to another living person or persons.
